It pains my heart whenever I came across a news about businesses shutting down and declaring bankruptcy due to the vast effect of this pandemic we are still facing up to this moment. May it be small or giant business entities around the globe, no one has escaped from the wrath of this pandemic. Many people have lost their jobs. None of us has been ready for this and all of us have suffered from its devastating effect.
There’s no one to be blamed for the decisions of business owners to either shut down their business or lay off some employees in order for them to be able to continue their business operation. Others have to put their employees on hold or were forced to ask them to leave their jobs instead of completely shutting their business down. However, while they are saving their business they have also not seen the importance of keeping their employees. Your employees are the gems of your business. There are several ways of cutting the cost of business operation and this does not necessarily include cutting jobs. The question is how can we avoid this then? Instead of applying force termination or layoffs among your people. You can arrange a rotation schedule for all of your staff. This may not apply however in all kinds of business establishments but it’s best for those which can be applied. In businesses engaging in-store and front operations, you can discuss this among your people that instead of losing their jobs you can apply this arrangement for everyone. They may not earn the same way they earn during the normal operation as this would result in “no schedule no pay” as payment would only be given during the schedule given to them as the rotation is being implemented but everyone can keep their jobs and everyone can earn. Considering their daily expenses they should also be advised to learn how to budget their income much wiser spending only on the basic necessities. Should all business owners apply rotation schedules among employees they would only not help them with their source for daily living but they could also help the government lower the unemployment rate. Nowadays, It’s been a new normal for most back-office employees to be working from home and this has certainly been effective as it reduces miscellaneous and utility consumption or expenses and even space rentals for others depending on the severity of the situation.
More than ever this is the time where you can show your people how much you care for them and mind you this care that you will give them will be given back to you ten thousand folds as this move develops employees full commitment and genuine loyalty to your company which means “saving your people is saving your business”
Nobody knows until when this situation would last or this may stay as normal that it is of most importance for us to take utmost consideration in every decision we make.
Remember, your people’s lives are in your hand and it happens because God has given you the authority to help them and not disregard them. Thus, whenever we decide during this time of pandemic may our virtue be what’s written on
2 Chronicle 19:5-6 (5)He appointed judges in the land, in each of the fortified cities of Judah. (6)He told them, “Consider carefully what you do because you are not judging for mere mortals but for the Lord, who is with you whenever you give a verdict.
The business owners and the management are the judges of the present times and God has appointed you to take care of His people that you should carefully consider what you do because you are not judging just for mere people (your employees) but for the Lord.
God bless us all.
All glory to God
